HERE AND NOW

Call for Proposals

The 6th Young Conference, 21-23 February 2019

University of Roehampton, London

Where is here?

When is now?

Time and space are the metrics by which we measure our trajectory through reality.

How do you move through it? How does it move you?

<space>

We each exist in the delicate interstice between past and future.

Is your now-ness physical, metaphysical, political, environmental, communal, emotional, gestural, urgent…?

      <space>

For The Young Conference 2019, we would like to shine a light on the past, the present, and the future as they relate to the where and when of the HERE and NOW. We each have a different perspective on where we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going. Where do you stand?

            <space>

What are the possibilities? Where can this moment take you?

Are you HERE? Is it NOW?

We would like to invite individuals or collectives to submit a proposal to share your research and interests as they relate to the HERE and NOW. Your proposal can take a variety of forms, including, but not limited to: a traditional or creative one-page document, a short video (maximum 3 minutes), or any other medium you feel best expresses your ideas.

The Young is a space for exploring and sharing ideas in their early stages. You may submit work at any phase in its development. If you wish to contribute to a roundtable or panel discussion, please send us your research interest(s) and we will be in contact about possibilities.

It is imperative that you provide us with any technical requirements you may have, such as lighting and sound, audiovisual tools, duration, and any specific spatial requirements, including dimensions.

A loose guideline is as follows:

Papers - Up to 20 minutes

Performance/Film - Up to 15 minutes

Lecture Demonstration - Up to 30 minutes

Workshops - Up to 50 minutes

Alternative Formats - If none of the above formats are relevant to your research interest(s), we welcome your provocations.

Please note, the deadline for submissions is now closed.
